FIDO (TM) is non-commercial worldwide network.

Fido Technology Network is dialup link based, no online services possible. FidoNet stations often supports Bulletain Board Systems (BBS). There are several Internet<->FidoNet gateways, so fidonet members can send and receive mail to/from Internet. FidoNet created at 1984, you can see one of the first FidoNet nodelists. Now there are about 30000 members of fidonet around the world, excluding point systems and BBS users.

I'm sysop of fidonet station 2:463/68 and gatemaster of regional FidoNet<->Internet gateway 2:46/128.
